Majors and Minors Tryouts
Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11UpdatedWednesday April 7, 2021 byKCRBL.
Hello KCRBL families of players ages 8-12,
Next weekend, April 10-11, we are holding our tryouts sessions for all players ages 8-12 at The Nick in Wolfeboro.
These are really evaluations, which provide baseline skills data for all the coaches, inform the league about appropriate placement of players at each level (particularly for those wishing to “play up”), and provide info in order to form fair teams (where and as much as possible).
We will be dividing each level into groups alphabetically for the tryouts so that we limit the number of people at the fields at one time. We also strongly encourage only one parent bring their player(s) to the tryout and stay in or at their car during their allotted time. Players should arrive shortly before their time slot to check in. As soon as a player has completed their tryout, they can depart. Within a day or two after the tryouts, coaches will reach out to their players and families.
The tryouts includes fielding groundballs, catching pop-ups/flyballs, throwing to a target after fielding, hitting and bunting, and running bases. Each player should bring a bat (if they have one), their mitt, a batting helmet, a cloth face covering, and a water bottle. Sneakers only; no cleats for the tryout.
On Saturday, we will be evaluating the Majors players and any 10-year-olds considering playing up. Schedule with time slots is below.
Beginning on Saturday and finishing on Sunday, we will evaluate the Minors players and any 8-year-olds considering playing up, which could be as many as 50 players. If any Minors family has a conflict with a day or time, email Bill Huffman at firstname.lastname@example.org. We can move players around as necessary, as we would like to evaluate all of the kids if possible. Schedule with time slots is below. While we encourage 8-year-olds to remain in the Rookies level, particularly after two years away from the sport (at least in an organizational sense) and the likelihood of many last playing in T-ball, we acknowledge that some youth are ready for Minors before the age of 9 regardless of past experience.
All participants must have completed the Nick Waiver online prior to the tryouts, as the Nick requires the waiver before participating.

Majors coaches should arrive at 1:45 on Saturday to prepare.
Minors coaches should arrive at 5:00 on Saturday and 12:00 on Sunday to prepare.
Minors coaches, we are aware that this takes a bit of time and we are asking for parts of two days; however, with the volume of players we need to evaluate, we felt the need to have a group slot on Saturday to give us the most flexibility for scheduling.
