Happy Spring,

Welcome to the 2021 baseball and softball season for Kingswood Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken. This is the first of many updates you will receive from us before the season begins. This update is about our new helmet policy, how we are handling refunds, Nick waivers, and some scheduling news.

Hopefully, the next update will be related to changes to our Covid policy and safety plan. We have revised it multiple times in the past month, just received new guidance from Babe Ruth League Inc, and expect new policy updates from Gov. Sununu very soon. Our policy will likely continue to be revised as policies are updated. Our plan is based on requirements and guidance from the CDC, state of NH, Babe Ruth League, school district, and local facilities that we use.

Helmets: This year, we are requiring players to provide their own helmets. Players need to bring their helmets to every practice and game. While many players do usually bring their own, we have always equipped coaches with league helmets for those who do not have helmets. However, with Covid policy requirements that equipment sharing must be limited, along with perennial concerns about lice (though we have never had an outbreak of that), we are asking that players come equipped with helmets. That said, if the cost is a concern or limiting factor, we have some league helmets that can be assigned to players for the season. Email league president Bill Huffman at kcrbl.huffman@gmail.com for information and helmet reservations.

Refunds: The deadline to request refunds of 2020 registrations is March 31, 2021. We moved all 2020 registrations to the 2021 season. If your child(ren) are not participating in 2021, please let us know by March 31 so that we can issue a refund. After March 31, refunds will no longer be issued for 2020 registrations. If interested, you can ask for the paid registration fee to be converted to an account credit for a future season or as a donation to the league. Our regular refund policy is: All sales are final.

The Nick Waiver: All participants are required to complete the Nick Waiver, as has been the case in past years. However, the Nick’s waiver is now online only. The Nick is requiring that all KCRBL registrants complete the waiver before any KCRBL activities begin. Link to the waiver:

Schedule: For families of Minors/Majors baseball players, ages 9-12, and for those of 8-year-olds interested in “playing up” to the Minors, we will be holding our tryouts (evaluations) at The Nick on Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11, 2021. You will receive a separate email update soon with more details.

If you have any questions or concerns about any of these policies, please contact any member of the KCRBL board of directors or league officers.
